BC prosecution Service has charged a Vancouver woman for luggage theft at the Vancouver International Airport.
Miriam Tremblay, 26, of Vancouver, has been charged with seven counts of theft under $5000. The charges originated from alleged luggage carousel thefts that occurred between July 12, 2019 and August 2, 2019 at the YVR Domestic Terminal Building.
Tremblay is due in Richmond Provincial court on September 11, 2019. Richmond RCMP YVR Detachment has been actively investigating luggage thefts and said police were committed to ensuring the safety and security of travellers to Vancouver International Airport.
“Our officers, especially those from our Airport Crime Unit, have been steadfast in gathering evidence to move this case forward,” said Sgt. Lundie.
There have been at least 139 reports of stolen luggage at the airport in the past two years, and police have arrested two people before as part of this investigation.
