Vancouver Police released a video of suspects involved in the violent robbery of a 75-year-old man near East Hastings Street and Jackson Avenue on Tuesday.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the robbery or has information that could assist investigators to come forward, according to the news release.
According to the news release, the incident occurred around 9:15 a.m. when the victim, a senior who lives in the area, was assaulted and robbed by a group of suspects while out for a walk in his neighbourhood.
One suspect repeatedly pushed the victim to the ground before punching him multiple times in the face and stealing his personal belongings, according to the news release. The victim followed the suspects in an attempt to recover his property, and during the confrontation, he was slammed into a wall twice before the suspects fled the area.
Several witnesses and bystanders called police. The victim was transported to hospital with a head injury, bruises and abrasions. He has since been released.
“This was a very serious incident where a senior who lives in the area was going for a walk in the neighbourhood and was attacked and robbed,” said Constable Megan Lui. “The suspects are still out there. Our hope is that the video will help us track them down.”
