Metro Vancouver is warning about high water levels in Lynn Creek
“Recent heavy rain has increased the height and flow in Lynn Creek, creating dangerous conditions,” Metro Vancouver posted in an update.
“Stay well back from the edge of fast moving water and potentially unstable creeksides.”
Meanwhile, the River Forecast Centre has also issued a high streamflow advisory for North Shore.
A series of storms passing over BC have brought moderate to heavy rainfall amounts across the South Coast.
Along with moderate to heavy rain, temperatures are expected to rise, contributing to additional runoff from rain-on-snow and snowmelt.
River levels are expected to rise in response to this storm, with high flows expected today.
Prolonged wet weather over the past 1-2 weeks has also led to ground saturation in some areas, and this may contribute to increased flows in response to this rainfall.
The public is advised to stay clear of the fast-flowing rivers and potentially unstable riverbanks during the high-streamflow period.
