A bored housewife is offered a trip to Greece by her best friend. She secretly packs her bags, heads for the sun and starts to see the world and herself very differently.

Willy Russell’s heart-warming one-woman comedy premiered in Liverpool 36 years ago in 1986 and took the world by storm. It was a huge hit when Deep Cove’s First Impressions Theatre first produced it in 2018. Now, Louise Porter once again stars in this English national treasure.
Shirley is a Liverpudlian housewife. Her kids have left home, and she makes chips and egg for her husband while talking to the wall. Where has her life disappeared to? Out of the blue, her best friend offers her a trip to Greece for two weeks and she secretly packs her bags. She heads for the sun and starts to see the world and herself very differently.
‘Shirley Valentine’ is directed by Jay Brazeau, well-known stage, film, television and voice actor. His directing credits include with Bruno Gerussi in Breaking Legs; Eric McCormack and Molly Parker in The Passion of Dracula for the Art’s Club; Old Love, 3 Viewings for Presentation House; Bad Jews and Suzanne Ristic’s Poor for the Vancouver Fringe Festival.
Louise Porter began working with First Impressions in 2001 when she performed in Willy Russell’s Educating Rita.
