The District of West Vancouver has outlined a series of impacts on Ambleside Park and the surrounding area beginning the week of August 24, ahead of the Soulrise Music Festival.
The Soulrise Music Festival will take place in Ambleside Park on Saturday, August 29, from 1 to 10 p.m. According to the District of West Vancouver’s news release, setup and takedown for the festival will affect the park and surrounding area throughout the week.
Intermittent sound testing is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and again on Friday, August 28, from 12 to 10 p.m. Silent screen light, laser, and special effects testing will also take place, running Thursday, August 27, from 9 p.m. to approximately 2 a.m., and Friday, August 28, from 10 p.m. to approximately 2 a.m.
Further impacts are expected from Friday, August 28, through Sunday, August 30. To support event operations and public safety, Ambleside Park will be closed to vehicle traffic from 11 p.m. on Friday, August 28, to early morning Sunday, August 30, though the park will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists.
According to the news release, road closures will be in effect on Saturday, August 29, between 12 p.m. and approximately 11 p.m., affecting 13th Street between Marine Drive and Ambleside Park, and Bellevue Avenue between 13th Street and 14th Street. Pound Road will be closed from 12 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, until early morning Sunday, August 30, though emergency access to the SPCA will remain open.
Vehicles will be permitted to access the park, including the pickleball courts, dog park, and all businesses in the park, during the concert set-up and take-down, the release states. Those planning to attend the event are encouraged to consider alternative transportation, such as walking, biking, carpooling, or taking the bus, to help reduce traffic and parking congestion in the area.
