West Van paving work to cause ‘significant noise overnight’

Staff report
October 8, 2020 4:31pm

District of West Vancouver is warning of significant noise overnight as crews work on a section of Marine Drive in the district.

Crews will repave Marine Drive between 13th Street and 14th Street, and some of that work is scheduled to take place overnight.

This work is being done overnight because of the safety of pedestrians, traffic, and workers in this high-traffic area.

The schedule for this roadwork is as follows:

Overnight work (three evenings): October 12, 13, and 14, between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Daytime work (three days): September 30 and October 13–14 between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

The use of jackhammers and saw cutting will be limited to the day shift to reduce noise at night.

However, there will still be significant noise associated with the heavy machinery required to complete the milling and paving.

District also cautions that residents and businesses that received a letter in the mail actually have incorrect construction dates.

After the letters were mailed, the construction schedule was changed due to weather.
