West Vancouver Police Department is the latest police agency to launch eTicketing as the new method of issuing traffic tickets. This follows other police agencies in B.C. who began testing the roadside electronic tickets in Spring of 2018.
WVPD officially began issuing the new tickets on July 31, 2019. WVPS said eTicketing allows the details needed to issue a traffic ticket to be automatically filled with the swipe of a driver’s license.
The ticket will be printed from the police vehicle, and the information is shared directly with ICBC. Driver’s also now have the ability to pay their tickets on-line.
“This system is simply a more efficient way for us to do business,” says Constable Kevin Goodmurphy. “The less time it takes our officers to issue a ticket, the more time they will have to focus on enforcement.”
So far, nine vehicles have been outfitted with the new equipment and officers have issued 96 eTickets since July 31.
