West Vancouver Police officers seized a fake pistol from an impaired teen after an incident involving assault in Sandy Cove.
Const. Kevin Goodmurphy of West Vancouver police said the incident happened on Halloween night when officers responded to a call about an alleged assault on three people near Marine Drive and Morgan Crescent.
They told the police they were attacked by five people, who were driving a Honda CX5. The three suffered injuries to the face in this attack.
However, this wasn’t a random attack, and two people who attacked the victims knew them.
Police found the Honda on Highway 1 travelling at 147 kilometres per hour. When officers stopped the vehicle, they also found out the driver to be drunk.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the car was impounded for 30 days.
Goodmurphy said the fake pistol was “very, very” realistic looking. Although not illegal, Goodmurphy advises against keeping one as it can have dangerous consequences.
