The District of West Vancouver is inviting artists and artist teams residing in B.C. to submit proposals for a public art project at Place for Sport.

According to the news release by the District of West Vancouver, the project will be located at 1750 Mathers Avenue at the West Vancouver Secondary School site, where an art element will be incorporated into a wall as part of the redevelopment of the track and field.

Artists can propose either a mural, a fabricated wall installation using materials such as stainless steel or aluminum, or both. The proposed artwork would be located on the long wall near the entrance to the track.

According to the news release, the artwork should spark intrigue and dialogue, provide ongoing interest for sports field users, and integrate with the overall design of the site.

The project is also intended to reflect the setting and energy of Place for Sport through themes of movement, inspiration, resiliency, energy, inclusivity across age, gender, and ability, and youthfulness. Stage One Expressions of Interest are due by 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
