Stage 1 water restrictions are now in effect in West Vancouver, allowing residents and businesses to water lawns one morning per week.
According to the news release by the district, the restrictions took effect today, Sept. 1, and will remain in place until Oct. 15. Restrictions are easing from Stage 2 because reservoir storage levels are sufficient for this time of year and water use trends are generally lower in September and October.
For residential properties, even-numbered addresses can water lawns on Saturdays, while odd-numbered addresses can water on Sundays. Automatic watering is permitted from 5 to 7 a.m., while manual watering is allowed from 6 to 9 a.m. Trees, shrubs, and flowers can be watered with sprinklers from 5 to 9 a.m. any day, while hand watering, soaker hoses, and drip irrigation are permitted at any time. Vegetable gardens can be watered anytime.
For non-residential properties, even-numbered addresses can water lawns on Mondays and odd-numbered addresses on Tuesdays. Automatic watering is permitted from 4 to 6 a.m., and manual watering from 6 to 9 a.m. According to the news release, non-residential properties can water trees, shrubs, and flowers with sprinklers from 4 to 9 a.m. any day, or use hand watering or drip irrigation at any time. Edible plants are exempt from the regulations.
Residents and businesses can check their designated watering days and times through Metro Vancouver’s lawn watering scheduler.
