The District of West Vancouver will hold a public hearing on Monday to consider a new local area plan that could reshape the heart of the Ambleside neighbourhood for years to come.

The hearing is scheduled for 5 p.m. on April 27 at Municipal Hall Council Chamber, 750 17th Street, and will take up the proposed Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw — a measure that would adopt the Ambleside Centre Local Area Plan to guide decisions on land use and the form and character of development in the designated area.

The subject lands cover a broad stretch of central Ambleside along Marine Drive, Bellevue Avenue, and Ambleside Lane.

“The public hearing is your opportunity to speak to Council if you feel your interests will be affected by the proposed bylaw,” the district said in its notice to residents.

Residents may attend in person or watch the session live on YouTube at the West Van District channel. Those wishing to address Council via Zoom must call the District on April 27 to be added to the speakers list, with instructions available at westvancouver.ca/ph. In-person speakers may address the Council for up to five minutes at a time.

Written submissions may be sent to correspondence@westvancouver.ca, mailed to Legislative Services at 750 17th Street, West Vancouver BC V7V 3T3, or dropped off at the north and west entrances of Municipal Hall. All written submissions must be received by noon on April 27.

More information on the proposed bylaw, including staff reports and other supporting documents, may be viewed at West Vancouver notices and at Municipal Hall from April 10 to 27 during business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays.
