I’ve considered myself a natural musician from a young age and have played music casually and semi-professionally all my life. I only ever thought of music as a performative art form, and never contemplated the effects of sound itself on the mind and body.

Through my own journey seeking out various healing modalities, I stumbled upon a sound healing session at a Yoga studio in Long Beach, California several years ago. After this incredible experience, my whole paradigm on sound and music was changed and I was put on the path to discover and learn more.

Since then, I’ve dedicated countless hours to studying sound and vibration, learned about its rich history in ancient cultures, and created Sound Quest, which offers these therapeutic sound healing experiences throughout British Columbia.

The intention of Sound Healing Therapy is to induce a state of meditative relaxation so that the body can go through its own self-healing process. The various instruments I use in a session (such as Gongs, Crystal & Tibetan Singing Bowls, Shruti, and Ocean Drum) emanate the full spectrum of the human hearing range, typically between 20hz to 20,000hz, which then confuses the thinking mind to the point it will surrender and fall into a Theta Brainwave state (Meditation). From there the nervous system will shift from the Sympathetic nervous system to the Parasympathetic nervous system, which allows the systems in the body to begin their own self-healing process.

Some benefits that you can experience during Sound & Vibrational Healing (Sound Bath):

– Deep relaxation – not only during, but days afterward you’ll be better able to manage stress and anxiety
– Increase in immune system function
– Nervous system regulation
– Decrease in depressive feelings
– Improvement in emotional regulation
– Reduced blood pressure
– Enhanced sleep and memory
– Tunes you up to positive mood states
– And more

Join me every month at Rasa Flow Yoga in North Vancouver for a 90-minute Sound Bath. Sign up at www.northvansoundbath.eventbrite.ca, as well as other frequent events throughout the Lower Mainland at www.soundquest.ca
