Why I’m running to be an MP for Burnaby North-Seymour

Canada’s Conservatives are the only party with a plan to secure our environment, secure jobs, and secure our future

I am running to be your Member of Parliament for Burnaby North – Seymour in the next federal election, because I love my community and I am dedicated to fight for it.

Canada is on the cusp of a transformational moment. With any hope we will soon put COVID-19 behind us. And we will begin the work of reshaping and strengthening our country. For the good of all Canadians, we need to get it right.

I have spent my career bringing people together, working for Members of Parliament around BC and across Canada, advocating for health and healthcare, and working in my family’s small business in North Vancouver. I am a proud lifelong member of the Métis Nation British Columbia.

My family has spent our lives working in the tourism and service industries. This work moved us around the province, and it is this province’s diversity and ambition that have forged my values.

This community is too important to me to sit by and watch our future be gambled away on Justin Trudeau’s risky approach to the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s when I knew it was time to take action.

Enough is enough.

As a millennial who is passionate about our country, I fear that a re-elected Trudeau government is squandering our future.

Justin Trudeau’s government has done a terrible job at protecting the health and economy of Canadians. That’s because he has been too busy trying to put out fires of his own making.

Since the 2019 election we have seen an attempt to spend hundreds of millions of dollars directed to former friends at WE Charity leading to the resignation of Trudeau’s Finance Minister.

If that wasn’t shameful enough, when it comes to the treatment of women in the military,

they have managed to act even less ethically and with less transparency than they did during the SNC Lavalin scandal

I must share how outraged I am by Justin Trudeau’s treatment of women.

Recently Liberal MPs shut down Committee hearings into allegations of sexual abuse at the highest levels of the Canadian military. This is an ongoing pattern of silencing women by the Liberal government.

These women act with bravery to speak truth and stand up against sexual violence and injustice. We need a Member of Parliament who will represent women in our community and who will stand up for what is right. I will fight for justice for victims and stand up for women.

The people I talk to everyday in Burnaby North – Seymour love this country. We are decent and hard-working. We care for our neighbors, families, and friends. We are optimistic and ambitious.

Here in BC, we know that caring for our environment means caring for our future. Burnaby North – Seymour is one of the most naturally beautiful parts of our country. We are so lucky to wake up every morning in the mountains and by the ocean – I will never take the importance of caring for our environment for granted.

Conservatives will fight climate change and protect the environment, but we will not do it on the backs of hard working Canadians or by hurting our economy. We will put a price on emissions. We believe every single Canadian can help secure the environment.

The people of Burnaby North-Seymour share the values I was raised with. I’ve worked hard helping run my family’s small business in North Vancouver. We know the governments don’t create jobs – our community’s small businesses do.

Local businesses need a government that supports them. Conservatives will fight to save our businesses while we secure the economy. Our Party will fight for a recovery that includes those who have been hardest hit; including women and young people.

This is what a Conservative government will be. We will lead the country’s recovery with integrity and competency.  Canada’s Conservatives are the only party with a plan to secure our environment, secure jobs, and secure our future.

My name is Kelsey Shein, and I will fight to secure the future for all of us.
