Witnesses sought after fatal collision in West Van

August 10, 2021 2:22pm

West Vancouver investigators are seeking witnesses following an incident involving a pedestrian and a West Vancouver Blue Bus in which the pedestrian later succumbed to their injuries.

On July 30, 2021 at approximately 9:26 pm, officers attended the intersection of 25th St / Marine Drive after a report of a serious incident involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they learned that a 60-year-old woman had been struck by the bus while crossing Marine Dr. The woman had suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital by EHS.

She later succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

The area around 25th and Marine Dr. was closed to traffic for hours, while the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) took control of the scene.

“This is nothing short of a tragedy,” says Cst. Kevin Goodmurphy.

“We need any and all available evidence to help us with this investigation. That includes any dashcam footage that may have captured the moments leading up to the incident.”

The investigation is ongoing and police are seeking further witnesses to come forward.

If anyone has information in regards to this incident, they are asked to call the West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300 regarding police file 21-8863.
