Vancouver Police has arrested and charged a 25-year-old woman with second-degree murder.
Her arrest followed a month-long murder investigation that started in 2018. Shannon Watts has been charged with one count of second-degree murder for the death of her 26-year-old common-law husband, Shane Tolmie.
VPD began investigating the death after patrol officers were called to Watts’ Downtown Eastside apartment on June 28, 2018. Tolmie had suffered a stab wound inside the apartment. Tolmie later died in hospital.
Watts was arrested at the scene, but released from custody pending completion of the investigation and approval of the charge by Crown counsel.
