Work to demolish the Fern Street overpass will begin tonight.
Starting Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, night-time construction will begin to demolish the overpass, as part of the Highway 1 Lower Lynn Improvement Project.
In order to complete this work, there will be five days of night closures from Feb. 22-26. The hours of night work operation are from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Appropriate detours will be in place to maintain highway traffic through the area.
Westbound traffic will be diverted through the Mount Seymour Exit (Exit 22B) towards a left turn at the intersection of Lillooet Road and Mount Seymour Parkway before merging back onto Highway 1.
Eastbound traffic will be diverted through the Mountain Highway off-ramp (Exit 21) to Brooksbank Avenue, before a left turn onto Main Street.
Continuing on Main Street, traffic will be directed to take the on-ramp at the north end of the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge to merge back onto Highway 1.
Pedestrians and cyclists will detour via Keith Road on the north side of Highway 1. More details can be seen on this detour map.
This work is part of the Highway 1 Lower Lynn Improvement Project.
